Olsen Shipping Limited is a locally owned and operated, independent shipping agency located in the city of Napier, New Zealand. Evolving from the previous company C.A. Olsen Limited (a highly regarded shipping agency company that commenced operations in 1962). The directors wished to continue with the respected “Olsen” name, so the new company was subsequently established as “Olsen Shipping Limited”.
Based in Olsen House on the Marine Parade at Napier, the company offers a broad range of shipping agency services for vessels calling at the Port of Napier, plus full logistics, international freight forwarding and cargo marketing, for worldwide destinations to and from New Zealand.
The agency represents many New Zealand based shipping principals, and their vessels, calling at Port of Napier – and cargoes to/from. We also offer direct liaison with overseas principals to provide excellence of service to vessel and NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Cargo Carriers). Olsen Shipping Limited only engages experienced and professional personnel with many staff being involved in the shipping industry for over 20 years. We are committed to providing high levels of value and excellence of service.
The Company is a member of Shipping New Zealand as well as belonging to the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce, which ensures a strong focus on current business trends and industry guidelines.
Olsen Shipping Limited are very service orientated and foster close working relationships with shipping principals, Port of Napier personnel, government authorities, stevedores, customs agents, importers and exporters and are keen to further develop this profile.

Peter Hampton: Director/ShareholderPeter has been involved in shipping all of his working life and joined the Olsen Shipping Limited team in 1985. Having a good grounding in freight forwarding, Peter is able to offer a professional approach to customers’ requirements. Being a shareholder and a key contact for any shipping enquiries, Peter devotes much of his time regularly consulting and visiting clients to ensure demands are met.
Allan Germain: Director/ShareholderAllan joined the company in 1987 and has been involved with shipping in one way or another since leaving school. Overseeing the company’s finances and administration, while being fully involved in operations and agency functions, provides Allan with “hands-on” knowledge of the company’s day-to-day operation and performance. He also maintains constant contact with principals and customers.
Jackie Charleston20+ years with the company and a key contact for bookings and container control/positioning and logistics.
Carlene Walker25+ years in the shipping industry and prime contact for all vessel disbursement accounts.
Jeanette Larrington25+ years service in the shipping industry, Jeanette handles bookings and documentation services. Also assisting with container logistics functions.
Shona TupeShona joined the team in February 2007 and has 25+ years experience in the shipping industry. Her key roles are freight forwarding and customs clearances.
Fiona Reeve13 years in the industry coming from a freight forwarding background with experience in both air freight and sea freight. Fiona handles documentation, bookings and customer service.
Nikki SchmidtNikki Joined the Olsen shipping team in July 2006. Nikki is fully involved in documentation, bookings and container imports. She has 11 years experience in the shipping industry.
